how was your long weekend?

i spent my saturday in the car, rushing here and there and stuck in a massive traffic jam at NSE and reached home at 11pm. traffic was really bad from rawang to tanjung malim with people stopping their car at the emergency lane only to get some rest, pee and what nots. some even worse, parked their cars at the left lane. not to mention those who used the emergency lane la kan. benci benci benci benci. amazingly, traffic was super duper clear after tanjung malim. luckily our journey back to shah alam wasn't so bad.

so finally today, the court acquitted Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of the charge of sodomising his assistant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

i don't care at all about Anwar and his stories. but i'm sure most of us are so impressed with how Dr. Wan Azizah is coping with all of these. dari 1998, sampai sekarang. setia jugak berdiri kat belakang Anwar. what really happened, Allah saja yang tahu and that's between those people with Allah.

tapi, saya sangat sangat kagums dengan Anwar's wife for being there for him.

but those people who came all the way from all over Malaysia to join the crowd at the court, the students yang patutnya tengah jawab exam sanggup datang nak berhimpun, the bombing. tak perlu lah semua tu...........

it's great to be able to hide everything in the cupboard. sekarang ni cuma simpan kain-kain dalam bakul, and bila takda mood nak kemas mula la sakit mata memandang. i know my housemates pun sakit je hati hehe.. my fabrics are not that many so this type of arrangement is totally totally fine with me.

being a newbie in crafts world, in my early days i sew according to my mood. sometimes i take orders, sometimes when i don't feel like it, i will just put aside my sewing kit and leave the sewing room for weeks, sometimes a month. i took sewing as my hobby and was not that serious about it. why? because i thought sewing can be a hobby, but not for me to earn a living. i mean, who would want to order a bag, every day?

then came a day, and one particular event. where i met Mai from Okinokiyo who also attended the party as a participant. she told me about herself, and i was amazed. my view and perception changed from that day on. i activated my etsy shop (still working on the listings), and i started to get active in sewing again plus, from kak Mai's advice, i joined Etsy Malaysia team. and i couldn't be happier. she inspired me to start opening booth at bazaar. kak Mai, if you're reading this a huge huge thanks to you.

and then, at facebook i joined these two groups. and masha Allah the ladies there are so amazing. no one is taking advantage of another member. and every one is so so supportive. we can talk about anything, not just craft matters. we even had a gathering, and seriously these ladies really inspired me to become a better person and to grow more rather than just sewing for small group of customer. some of them are housewives, from professional fields they quit their jobs to take care of their family and sew. and they made money from sewing and crafting.

well, the main point here is; if we want to be a better person and to excel in something, surround yourself with the right group of people. sebabnya, kita ni akan mudah terikut dengan apa yang kawan-kawan kita buat. betul tak? so kalau kawan kita rajin, kita pun mesti akan rajin. kawan kita positive, we will be positive too. and i'm really thankful, that Allah lead me to these groups, to meet these wonderful, inspiring people and learn from them. Allah showed me the true color of one friend and yes, I was sad. tapi Allah berikan saya, lebih ramai kawan yang lagi bawa banyak manfaat.

Allah tu maha hebat, I'm sure semua ni jadi (after so many years) ada hikmahnya, that I made up my mind to take another step in my life. Perhaps, Allah bukakan kisah ni, untuk saya cepatkan lagi langkah saya.

a very last minute decision, sewfabby will be joining the crafty art market at jaya one next week. this is my first time ever joining a huge bazaar like this and i am now sewing like a mad lady. bangun pagi pergi kerja. balik kerja menjahit, menjahit, tidur, bangun kerja and so on.

but i'm not a machine tho, so a bit slow on the production department. i just hope that i have enough items to sell, and i also hope that you lovelies would come and say hi. it'll mean a lot to me. my crafter friends will also be there with me. thanks ladies, you know who you are. :D

most of my time now are practically for sewing, and sewing. wake up, go to work. go home, sew stuffs, sleep and the cycle goes on like that. i have few plans coming up for october and november, they're craft related of course.

all these while, when using camera i was not really into using the flash. because i'm not good at finding the right angle for the lights to bounce naturally, and because i think photos with flash look even more uglier with some spots too bright, and some spots darker than the others. i normally rely on natural lighting from Allah, or snap photos right under the lamp. haha tu kalau terdesak sangat-sangat la tu tak boleh tunggu siang dah. so my photos selalunya malap and malap.

recently the ladies at GMJ were having discussion on product presentation, like how to snap photos of the product, and seriously these ladies, they are superb..! they shared very useful tips and one of the tips is about diffuser. the answer to my lack of knowledge. hehe. the best part is, ini ialah DIY diffuser ya. bukan beli-beli. some of the ladies showed their DIY diffuser from paper plate, from polystyrene cup, from ID card and shared useful url too.

so, the easiest DIY diffuser would be tissue paper. which can be used on hand phone, or compact camera or even my Nex3 (with pop-up flash, in my case kena naikkan sendiri flash tu). here's a sample of photos taken with and without diffuser, using a blackberry camera with no editing done.

this photo is taken with normal flash, under normal lighting. ada part yang terang, and ada yang gelap

and this photo, taken with flash covered with 4 layers of tissue (lipat empat) under the same lighting

beza kan? :) and simple je guna tissue. after kak Rozi said i passed, terus charge battery camera and bungkus the flash with tissue. hehe. kak Sue pulak kasi tips on how to use the free image editing software Photoscape. selama ni cuma guna untuk resize, letak watermark and edit sikit-sikit je but it's actually more useful than just simple editing.

this was taken with Nex3, with 4 layers of tissue paper jugak.

kat facebook, i joined two groups for sewing ideas & discussions 1H1P & GMJ. and both are great, with so many ideas & activity. latest ada sew along held by kak Zila at 1H1P and craft swap at GMJ. and paling best sebab semua pun tak kedekut ilmu to share their ideas, and experience.

to the ladies at GMJ & 1H1P, thanks sebab you all really inspired me in this sewing & craft world. thanks for all the knowledge you shared, and the support juga. may Allah bless you ladies. amin.

tiba-tiba malam ni teringat kampung arwah abah dan raya waktu kecik di kampung tu. rasanya memang tak mungkin akan lupa, tapi saya nak tulis kat sini. in case satu hari ditakdirkan saya lupa macam mana indah rasanya raya waktu kecik dulu.

kampung arwah abah, memang kampung sesangat. tak ada bekalan elektrik, tak ada bekalan air lembaga air perak, dan tak ada jalan berturap. elektrik guna generator, air pulak memang fresh dari bukit dan jalan tanah merah. asal hujan lebat, kereta tak boleh masuk. jadi kami kena jalan kaki atau pun naik motor masuk ke rumah nenek saya yang kami panggil pah bukit (agaknya sebab rumahnya dikelilingi bukit kot). sebab tu, ramai sepupu dan sedara abah yang ada motor besar macam nak masuk motocross. tapi semua benda tu ada lepas abah meninggal. walaupun takda letrik, tv pun cuma ada bila ada generator, tapi raya tetap raya yang meriah, malah itu la tahun-tahun terbaik dalam hidup saya.

asal balik kampung pah bukit, satu perkara yang sangat ditakuti ialah nak mandi pagi. kedua takut ialah kalau nak pergi toilet waktu malam. ketiga takut (kakak-kakak saya) ialah nak cross titi gantung ke madrasah nak semayang raya dan ke rumah makcik. keempat takut, pacat. and ada la a few lagi yang tak patut cerita hehe..

perkara nombor satu tu, sebab air sangat sangat sangat sejuk. nama pun air bukit, lepas tu tadah pulak dalam kolah yang kecik sikit dari kolah masjid dan dibiar berembun. sangat tersiksa. perkara nombor dua, sebab toilet kat luar rumah n mana ada lampu kan. sakit perut, kalau boleh tahan tunggu je la sampai esok. perkara tiga sebab kakak-kakak saya gayat. waktu tu i was too small, pemegang titi tu dalam tangan je siap boleh lompat-lompat lagi kasi diorang lagi takut. sekarang? no no never. perkara empat, pacat tu memang sentiasa ada lepas hujan. jalan-jalan selak lah kain check-check lah kalau ada yang menumpang.

waktu kecik jugak, main mercun n bunga api masih legal. malam raya kat kampung pun meriah sangat, masing-masing bawak bekalan bunga api. kalau beli di kedai kampung tu, bunga apinya pemegang kertas warna merah atau oren, dan banyak asap. kalau up sikit, pemegangnya dawai besi, kurang sikit asapnya, up lagi bunga api yang warnanya tukar-tukar. mercun, hmm takde. tak dibenarkan. bunga api pun mak bahagi sama rata, so that takda yang mengungkit. ada yang bakar dua, tiga batang bunga api sekali gus, nak kasi banyak cahaya sikit. ada yang dengki, main slow-slow sampai yang lain dah hampir habis. lepas tu mula la menunjuk stok bunga api dia lagi banyak. oh u know who u are.

lemang pun, bakar sendiri. makcik pakcik saya mesti gotong royong bakar lemang sehari sebelum raya. pun jakun jugak nak tengok, lepas bakar lemang tu, bara-bara tu diorang bakar pisang pulak. sedap makan panas-panas ye.

bila hari raya, satu rumah ke satu rumah kami pergi. pak we mak we, tok cik (saya still ingat tok cik ni, rumahnya atas bukit), makcu tipah (dia suka peluk cium, saya tak suka) dan tok itu la tok ini la. semua pun tau ini anak siapa, ini siapa punya. so tak risau pun di situ.

saya experienced semua tu tak lama, abah meninggal. dan raya kami pun tak sama lagi. pah bukit pun dah takda, maksu pun dah buat rumah baru di kawasan lain. end of story.

i just hope that insha Allah one day bila saya ada anak, dia pun berpeluang untuk merasa raya macam yang saya rasa dulu. instead of duduk di rumah tengok tv dan makan kuih raya, ketupat, lemang dan rendang yang dibeli dari kedai.

most of my time were spent on sewing and studying for exams lately. luckily my last paper will on thursday and i can finish up my orders before hari raya. owh and speaking (i'm writing actually) of raya, this will be my first time splitting raya to two kampungs. even though we're both from the same town, my partner's relatives are mostly in kedah & penang. so we'll be heading there for our eid celebration. nervous, yes. excited, yes.

by the way, i was informed about something shocking last night by a friend and was so frustrated. one of my favorite blogger, the one i respect so much for the stories in the blog, eventually copied the beautiful writings from other blogs. i failed to understand why, but i sure feel cheated, and frustrated.

somehow i still hope that i was wrong, and this was just a silly dream. but one link after another came up and i just don't know what to say.

first of all, SELAMAT BERPUASA to all my muslim readers. may all of us dapat yang terbaik untuk ramadhan tahun ni insha Allah. sorry for my lack of updates, i want to post something here but i really don't have any idea on what to write about. sedih betul.

last weekend i almost bought myself a new sewing machine, to be exact a brother's sewing machine nv-50. but after few considerations and after calling few shops, rasa sayang nak trade in my current machine. maybe lepas raya la kot beli yang baru. so kakak-kakak, sila la hulur duit raya secara maximum.

went and search for new fabrics for sewfabby~* at ss2. and baru tau that they do offer sewing class for rm50 (2 hours) which i think is a good price since saya pun tak berapa ada masa untuk attend lama-lama. same as bookshop for bookworms, kedai kain & barang jahit pun boleh dilayan berjam-jam bila sekali masuk.

since the day i found out that i can actually adjust the length of zig zag stitch at my sewing machine,

i kept on trying to sew appliques to my products. so this is another creation of mine, i saw something like this but on table cloth, and i applied it on my bag.

i used linen for the body of the bag, and sew the heart shapes using zif zag stich. sangat la susahnya. especially at corners, kena slow down and pusing kain at the same time. as i was slow, benda tu tak pusing pun. haha. so kena la naikkan jarum dan pusing sendiri. so, jadilah heart shape yang tak berapa nak heart sangat tu. korang faham tak eh..?

pagi-pagi tadi on the way ke office, ralit dengar topic ni dibincangkan kat hot.fm. and , baru tahu yang sekarang ada ramai betul yang jadi host morning show hot fm tu, 4 orang kalau tak silap.

16th, tak la teruk sangat kan? :) and being a lady, memang sentiasa stress pun. tiap-tiap hari, ada je benda yang boleh jadi bahan penambah perisa untuk jadi stress. bangun pagi, tak tau nak pakai baju apa - stress dah. belum campur bangun lambat lagi tu. then, drive keluar rumah. ada pulak driver lain yang kurang asam, masuk lane tak kasi signal - stress seterusnya. lalu jalan shortcut, jalan tu pun jam. menyumbang lagi. sampai office, ada pulak yang menambah perisa - stress lagi.kalau sampai lambat, stress lagi bila fikir nanti gaji kena potong or apa nak jawab pada bos.

i think, ini stress yang biasa la tiap-tiap hari. then balik rumah, bila dah penat kerja mesti ada lagi yang menambah. tengok pinggan tak basuh ke, or cawan yang ada atas meja semalam hari ni pun still ada kat tempat yang sama. and.. dengar cerita kawan pun boleh jadi stress jugak, betul tak? kawan pompang pompang cerita pasal love life dia, kita pun jealous kenapa suami saya tak macam ni? or kawan cerita dia kena dera ke, partner main kayu tiga ke, kita pun tumpang stress, tumpang tension untuk dia. haha :)

so, memang stress lah aje setiap hari. lelaki pun ada je tertekan, cuma they don't show it. betul jugak kata usop wilcha tadi, lelaki tertekan sebab menekan mesin atm untuk keluarkan duit kasi isteri. kelakar, tapi betul kan. as the breadwinner, dia pun tertekan jugak untuk pastikan semua cukup untuk ahli rumah.

tapi, bersyukur dengan apa yang ada. buat la activity apa-apa untuk kurangkan stress. nyanyi dalam kereta ke, gosok baju awal sikit ke, menjahit ke, apa-apa la.. ok, bye!

then my sister suggested for us to go mandi sungaiii..!!

it's been ages, seriously ages since we last mandi sungai. so yes, semua pun quite excited. hehe

kids had fun, walaupun mula-mulanya semua takut nak masuk sungai. typical town kids, selalu mandi swimming pool je, mana ada arus n batu-batu macam kat sungai kan. my youngest niece, sampai sudah tak mahu jejak kaki kat dasar sungai. takut ikan. so we had to carry her, or she sat on one of us, on she stepped on our feet.

i finally finished writing and editing my assignments last night. yes, last night. actually, every semester my wish and promise is always the same. to finish all my assignments early. to ensure that i finished my revisions weeks before my final exams. this semester, assignment part is gone. wait for the revision part pulak.

one of the days when i was so pressured with the assignments, i tweeted about going home and sew something. aim & nils said just go ahead. and semangat pun kobar-kobar je to go home and sew something. but then, tak buat. so last night, midnight to be exact, i took out my sewing bag and started cutting some 'delicious' fabrics i bought from kak sue and made some buttons. yup, just buttons and that made me happy enough. :)

so tonight, gonna start on a project. if berjaya, i'll show u lovelies the outcome ya.

roving around colosseum

we stayed for three days at rome, as my mil reached rome on thursday, and my flight back to kl is on sunday. untuk memudahkan and most importantly to save time queuing, we bought Roma Pass (€25 each) for the whole three days. the pass covers transportation around rome, 2 museums or one archeological site, discounts for the next museums or archeological sites, and few other things. you can read it at their website. we bought the pass for the transportation & sebab malas nak beratur especially at colosseum. other option would be to buy the 3-days tourist ticket (metro) for €11. tapi lepas fikir-fikir, rasa macam rugi pun ada. cuma save masa je la kot.

first stop of the day, would be the colosseum.

took train from our hotel, to colosseo station. and the moment we stepped out from the station. this was what we saw.

stunned for a while. for me it was so so amazing. soalan ialah, besar gilanya, macam mana zaman dulu punya teknologi ni, siap terfikir ok zaman dulu punya arena pun tahan sikit punya lama and kita punya stadium baru buat tapi runtuh (okay jahat di situ)

of my besty's wedding last weekend. we both went to same primary school, same secondary school and continued being friends till now. same goes to all of us. mashe, dayang & munirah helped me a lot when i first started working at shah alam (all of them were at shah alam by then). i still remember we went around s.a like hell cari rumah.

we went through quite a journey together, there were times we hang out asyik nak jumpa saja, times when we prepared for interviews, times when we had 'cold war' (haha so stupid..) but we remained friends and i am so happy for her that she found a super nice guy to take care of her. and ajim. ajim happened to be husband's friend back in states so pusing-pusing tak ke mana. husband kept on repeating that he's the matchmaker. :p

ajim, being interviewed by the kadhi. alhamdulillah everything went smooth, he brought all the documents, no tricky questions for ajim. sekali lafaz je dengan lajunya, ajim menjadi mr. mashe.

the next day was the kenduri day at ipoh town hall. gorgeous wedding, gorgeous pelamin by zaid again. you can view the pelamin photo at his blog. the rest of the clan were there, ada munirah & apaii the newlywed, sha & pali minus baby damia, indah & apis with aqeel, myself minus husband, dayang minus didi & ina.

attended a beautiful wedding of a beautiful friend today

i finally wore my kaftan dress, lepas berapa lama tak confident nak pakai baju ni. disebabkan takde baju, n tak sempat nak get a new baju for the wedding, pakai jugak. not bad la, ok je sebenarnya. it was just me, nak try benda baru, tapi takut nak cuba. jangan jadi macam makcik okay.

other than the san lorenzo market, here are some other interesting point of interests that i visited.

some, i went with partner, and the rest i visited while waiting for him to finish his class. walking around florence is not scary, i can say i feel quite safe as there were many people around where most of them are tourist like me. but i did read somewhere that there're also 'pencopet' in florence. tapi, rasanya memang it is a basic rule no matter where we go, to sling your bag front, and to be careful, and to always hold your bag especially when going through crowded area.

ponte vecchio was previously a butchers area, but now you can find lots of jeweleries & souvenir shops here.

of pisa, how to

we went to pisa on the same day we arrived at florence. a bit rushing because partner's class starts the very next day. so, since dah sampai awal on tuesday tu, sempatkan aja nak selit trip to pisa. it's just one hour train ride from florence, ticket was quite cheap compared to other places sebab dekat je kan. bought our tickets at trenitalia vending machine. (you can plan your journey a lot earlier by checking their website or you can even buy your tickets there too using cc.) ticket to pisa costs us €5.80 per person.

along the way, saw some nice villas on top of the hills. some even got their own vineyard kat bawah tu. super nice, super love. tapi memang sah-sah for now tak mampu to own one of those place.

for the tower, we stopped at pisa centrale station and walked for about half an hour (as u'll stop here and there). but then few days after, on our way to siena we kinda saw another station which was quite near to the tower, but not so sure about it. most of the people who took the train with us on that day turun kat pisa centrale ni. get out from the station, you'll see a water fountain and just walk straight up. partner told me it's only a fifteen minutes walk (~~tipuuuu~~). (i'm starting to think that that's a standard answer for the people there as i heard it again from another traveler who was told the same instruction but then got lost in rome)

to get to the tower, you'll pass through rows of shops. nice shops, zara, promod. some shops selling shoes, i spotted some fitflops but refrained myself buying it thinking that i'll find it at florence.

you will also cross a bridge. with nice looking old buildings around you.

we didn't use the main entrance as there were so so so many tourist there. instead we took another entrance with less people, but still ramai jugak la sebenarnya. and everyone is finding the right place to stand so they can either hug the tower, or stand againts it or so many other styles.

kitorang pun sama je sebenarnya. we did the same too.

initial plan was to stay there for an hour or so. but we stayed longer, macam-macam style nak buat. but needed to rush back to florence by 8pm as kesian kat encik who will start his class on the next day tu kan.

but i had fun, i really had fun. like malam tadi baru je kat klia chatting with my sisters tup tup petang ni already at pisa. jakun kan....

we headed back to florence after hundreds of snaps, tu pun rasa tak cukup lagi.

of florence, how to go & where to stay

we took a flight from klia to rome, and then the fast train to florence as partner's class is in florence. from the airport, you can either choose to take a cab for €60 to roma termini, or take a train for €14 each person to the same destination. don't forget to validate the ticket before getting on the train.

from roma termini, we took the fast train at €45 per pax. a bit rushing as we're going to pisa on the same day. but if you're not in rush, then you can take a cheaper train at less than €20 (the more stations the train stops at, the cheaper it will be).

along the way, we'll get to see loads of things. for a newbie like me, excited sangat la nak tengok semua ni.

for partner, he's used to it already.

i was busy taking photos, and he was busy checking out his phone.

booking a room was troublesome for us too as we did it at the very last minute. for first few days, we managed to get a room at aramis b&b at the town. what i love about this b&b is the location, and the friendly staff (but she was more friendly to partner, compared to me. she even thought that partner was there to attend the uomo fashion week) it's quite near to the train and bus station so it's easy for us to travel and for partner to go to his class. then we moved to residence la contessina where we got a complete apartment where we can cook. aa but not much cooking tho huhu. banyak makan kat kedai jugak.

before i depart for KLIA the other day, partner asked me which is the place that i loved most from this trip. and i have to say, it's the colosseum. the moment we got out from the metro station i went 'wow'! and just stood there for few minutes, looking at this phenomenal archaeological site.

sorry i'm bad at image editing so i didn't do anything to my photos. but seriously, if you are there you'll be amazed. seriously amazed.

Florence review - San Lorenzo Market

every day when partner goes to class, this is where i will be heading to. after the coffee shop that is.

san lorenzo market, it's by the san lorenzo church and quite near to duomo. basically, if you want to go to duomo, or ponte vecchio and you want to see some interesting stuff and cuci mata, then sila la lalu kat area ni.

at this market, they basically sell leather goods, high quality leather bags (genuine leather), gloves, wallets, handbags, jackets, souvenirs, clothes and so many other things. yes, their jackets are really gorgeous, i saw some nice bikers jacket for ladies tapi saya sedar diri, i don't really need it (at all). so hush, tutup mata dan jalan terus.

even though their stalls might look like some kind of pasar malam style, the price of the items they are selling are not as cheap as our pasar malam. these sellers, they have a shop nearby (normally just behind or few doors away from their stalls). but still, according to my readings and after surveying few shops and stalls selling the same item, i must say that you can get the best price of everything at this market. (but please let me know if you do know some other place selling same items here at cheaper price).

as you walk along the market, don't straight away buy their words on giving you 40% discount and what nots. do go around checking the price at few shops and you'll be surprised of what you heard. i bought a bag earlier, with starting price of 50Euros, and after discount 35Euros.. another shop i went to, the starting price of a smaller size bag is 75Euros, last price 50Euros. i also noticed that, the further inside the market (closer to duomo) you go, the higher the price will be. selalunya kat sini, makin ke dalam pasar, harga barang makin murah. terbalik pulak. don't be afraid to bargain, bargain je la they won't bite. but don't bargain if you don't even want to buy that stuff, sangat la tak sopannya. owh, the sellers tak la marah ke apa if after belek-belek tu kita rasa tak bersesuaian dengan jiwa kita. just say thanks. unlike some place yang nak emosi bila kita tengok tapi takmo beli.

i also think that this is the best place to buy your souvenir. key chains & magnets are cheaper here, compared to other parts of florence that i went to. near duomo, they're selling magnets at 2 pcs for 3.50euros. (1 for 2euros) but at this market, same magnets are only 3.50 euro for FIVE pcs. and for key chains, they're selling at 2.50euro for 3 pieces. kat sini pun ada magnets for pisa, siena, venice that you can buy. bila pergi siena, one magnet costs around 3euro.

they have handmade leather shoes too kat sini, you can find them at the market itself or ke depan sikit on your way to duomo. as it's handmade, the price is not cheap either. starts from 30euro and above. i didn't buy any, sebab tapak dia keras, style sandal birkenstock tu..

ada jual herbs, pasta, olive oil, vinegar and bahan-bahan masak pasta jugak kat sini.

kesimpulannya, it's really really hard to pass by this area without buying anything. so plan your purchase, jaga pandangan hehe.. tapi memang nice la. the people are nice here. i bought a linen skirt that came together with a belt, tapi belt dia macam manik ada rosak sikit, the seller gave me a new belt (so ada dua belt) and sehelai lagi skirt and 2 belt untuk skirt tu.. so, dua helai skirt linen beserta empat tali pinggang for 20euro.

last saturday i attended this fabulous craft party organized by murni from mimpimurni. thanks to aim, or else memang i will never know, and will never attend this event. it was a simple, relax-mode craft class where murni taught us on tshirt refashion ideas and project. everyone was required to bring their own tshirt to be refashioned, and i brought partner's old t-shirt. (harus guna orang lain punya, i soo sayang mine)

i had fun, especially that i managed to get my friend, nilam to come with me. i made some new friends there too :) and mai from okinokiyo really really inspired me and gave me ideas on my next move. sara from fashiono.com & zikkos was also there and the lovely shelby who won the ms. congeniality title for the day.

i tried wearing bold color like red, okay la jugak tak rasa pelik sangat. lepas ni maybe boleh ulang tayang lagi pakai tudung ni. i wish i have enough confidence to try out new styles and colors. i don't feel confident wearing bold colors so that's why you can see that i always opt for natural and warna sekata saja.

of all trips or vacations i've had in my life, this is so far yang paling tak plan langsung.

unexpected trip, unexpected vacation with very limited time. thank God, my boss approved my unexpected long leave, we managed to get my unexpected ticket (alhamdulillah direct flight so balik nanti tak perlu tercangak sorang-sorang kat mana-mana) and for other unexpected things. partner had to go for his annual training thingy in florence so we're tagging along this time..! my mil & bil will join us a week later at rome and lepas tu baru la balik berseorangan as each of us has different important dates. as we're going during summer, hotels adalah sangat memeningkan. akhirnya dapat juga, tapi berpindah randah la sikit awal-awal tu.

months ago i joined this group at facebook for crafters to share their artwork with those with same passion. be it sewing ke, knitting ke asalkan ada la buat something. it's created by ruzila kassim, a pro in sewing world i must say. dari sana la dapat ramai kawan yang sama-sama menjahit, and dapat contact untuk tempah langsir ke, or ada sewing class ke, exchange ideas on how to sew things and tutorials pun.

and one of the fellow members recently shared a link on how to price our handmade items. which i think, is a very very very good article for us, the newbies untuk letakkan harga pada barang jualan, terutamanya handmade la. when i first started sewing dulu, (cewah lama sangat la ya) i started at a very very low price. reason being, sebab tak berani nak letak tinggi as i pun tak la berapa pandai or jahit kemas sangat lagi. i learnt sewing by myself from tutorials i got from internet, so rasa macam tak layak je la nak letak harga tinggi. and lagipun nak try tengok ada market tak bag-bag ni semua.. in the end, lepas tolak-tolak itu ini, dapat berapa je. then lepas rasa yakin and feedback kata okay sikit, baru berani nak letak harga yang sesuai.

memang lah, barang handmade ni tak ada brand macam cath kidston ke apa kan. but you need to know, once u bought a handmade item, you are the only person yang ada that thing with that design and pattern. sebab selalunya, handmade items doesn't come in big amount, satu or dua.. mostly satu.. so, untuk something yang rare, yang orang lain confirm takkan ada, the price pun patutnya sesuai kan? :)

From my observation of Malaysian crafter selling their handmade items out there, I see that sometimes some of them or maybe nearly all set their price way too low for handmade. Here, I would like to share some of my knowledge in how to price your handmade. I'm not a pro in the biz field but I read quite a lot from the net & biz books on pricing handmade/craft.

So here's what I can summarize from the info that I know.

The basic formula for pricing (for any biz out there) is:

MATERIAL COST (including glue, label, packaging, electricity, water etc ) + LABOUR COST (time needed to complete) = BASE PRICE

Of course for biz, you won't want to sell your item in base price / minimum price (mana nk dpt untung kan?)

So for RETAIL PRICE (end price for customer) you should at least price it at x2 or x3 times of your BASE price.

For WHOLESALE PRICE normally u'll need a min order quantity & pricing should not be lower that half of the RETAIL PRICE (that's the min ok guys!). Discount should be given around maybe 15-25% depending on the order size/quantity.

But there is also other stuff to consider, sometimes u need check out the market price for your item & adjust the pricing appropriately.

For certain type of craft such as crochet, knitting & jewellery making which need skill & more labour time, the price would be concentrating on the LABOUR COST more!

For small biz like us crafter, especially CUSTOM MADE ORDER or MADE-TO ORDER items, it is advisable to get deposit or advance fees first at least 1/2 of the item(s) price.

Just my advise, after you figure out your pricing, stick with it. Don't just simply lower your handmade price just because ppl bargain especially when it's lower than your material cost! It will be only a big lost to u except you are just willingly give your labour cost for free to every customer you have.

Oh don't be afraid to change the pricing if u need too. There will be always a fluctuation in pricing of materials you buy (eg. rise of fuel price cause yarn price to go up).

Please guys, try to set ur handmade price appropriately as u are the only one who know how difficult to make them. I always believe that the ppl who appreciated handmade (good quality & unique) are the ppl who willing to pay for the price of the handmade no matter how expensive it is. Hope that these info will help you all in your craft biz!

again, alhamdulillah sangat berpuas hati. since we wore modern outfit at my side, we decided to wear songket at partner's reception. so sila la tengok ya, pelamin masih dari Zaha Bridal kat ipoh, baju from Innai Bridal, and mekap by orang ipoh jugak, kak Mimi.. personally, i love kak mimi punya make up tapi awal-awal kena pesan tak mau tebal gila sampai tak nampak muka original. alhamdulillah, puas hati dengan dua-dua kenduri ini. seriously lah korang, sila la hire Acaii. memang tak sia-sia lah import acaii & fiza dari shah alam ke ipoh. insha Allah ada rezeki, boleh la hire acaii untuk kenduri-kenduri seterusnya nanti..

i know dah lapuk pun kenduri saya, tapi semalam teringat balik.

acaii dah release few photos from the wedding, and here are some of my favorites. some of my besties came to my side of kenduri, and some came to partner's kenduri. so another set coming dengan baju purple pulak. you can view more photos at acaii's blog.

seriously, i must must must recommend acaii to any b2b out there, affordable and most importantly acaii sangat friendly and memang senang nak bekerja dengan dia. banyak idea yang acaii kasi, and memang boleh sembang macam kawan lama walaupun baru jumpa pagi tu je pun. wife acaii, fiza pun setia je menunggu kitorang walaupun sampai ke petang.

we traveled to melaka on friday to attend my bestie's wedding on the next day, reason being was so that we'll be able to go back to shah alam to attend another close friend of mine, girl's wedding and to marina's dania aqiqah. (phew~*) but then, man proposes God disposes. we only attended one of the event. awal pagi tu sempat jalan-jalan sekejap around our hotel area, but tak tahan.. it was seriously seriously hot.

with my primary & high school sweethearts, we knew each other since we were 11 and still standing strong. after this will be mashe's turn in ipoh, a week after my trip.

munirah the lovely bride, please ignore the rest of us. cuaca sangat panas and semuanya comot belaka. i love everything bout munirah's wedding. the food memang terbaik, reminds me of opy's wedding. and nirah's make-up pun cantik. okay, i just love weddings & pretty brides. mana ada wedding yang tak lovely?

i wore a hand sewn kaftan made by my sister. flowy sangat, super love! :)

we got the chance to watch pirates of the caribbean (on stranger tides) last week. of all four, i think this one is a bit slow i got so bored waiting for them to actually get to the fountain. the only part that caught my eyes was the mermaid (lots of mermaids) part. or any scene with the mermaids in it. :) they are so so pretty!

tu saja yang menarik, yang lain biasa je even though my companion said the movie was nice. i still prefer fast5.
