we took air asia from kl to jakarta. not so cheap as tickets were bought at the very last minute. mas lagi la lupakan saje.
hotel
stayed at ibis mangga dua. as this plan is something last minute, so we booked whatever appears to be reasonable and as suggested by travelers & fellow blogger friends. the hotel was nice, it’s located right beside mangga dua mall (macam low yat plaza kl) and very very near to itc mangga dua and pasar pagi mangga dua. all three malls are connected so tade perlu keluar dari bangunan tu.
but the area is a bit scary for me. there are taxis in front of the hotel, just tell the bell boy and he’ll get a cab for u. but if you want bluebird cabs, sila jalan keluar sket. tapi kan. malam takda lampu jalan sangat so a bit dark, lampu cuma datang dari kedai / stalls kat tepi jalan saja.
suggestion: next time kalau pegi, mungkin akan cari hotel di jakarta pusat
traffic
as there are no mrt and what nots at jakarta, the only public transportation that we used was cab. plan your journey, as the traffic jam is really bad. pening. cabs, sila naik bluebird. or if you take other cabs, don’t ask how much. try to pay the exact amount that appears at the meter. kitorang, bijak sangat tanya, dia ketuk lebih-lebih pulak. an indonesian friend also said, sila naik bluebird aja, lebih nyaman.
shopping
we didn’t have much time as shops were closed on x-mas day. so most of the shopping were done on sunday. berlari berkejaran macam marathon saje semua orang.
for doorgifts: as what diah said, cari kat mangga dua. okay so i thought mangga dua is a mall. like ONE mall, so bila sampai ada mangga dua mall is everywhere, mall, pasar pagi, itc, square and apa lagi tah. pening, the shops there reminded me of bb plaza. rapat and kedai kecik-kecik je kat sana.
banyak kedai yang tutup for x-mas. so sila check jugak their calendar when you plan to go there ya. don’t go on their main public holidays
if you’re looking for wedding favors, terus je pegi pasar pagi mangga dua okay. kedai-kedai tu semua ada kat basement or semi-basement level. and the kikie shop yang diah mention kat her blog is there too. you can order your favors here, and kalau takde stok jangan risau, they can post your barang with rm150 delivery fee.
for modern clothing: itc mangga dua is the place. memang banyak gila baju modern-modern. tapered pants pun banyak , you can get one for rm20 camtu. there were some nice cardigans too, but then taktau kenapa tak beli. i was not feeling well so berjalan pun macam blur je.
traditional clothing: as suggested by our friend, of you want to buy baju kurung, baru kebaya siap, kain for baju kebaya and telekung sila la menuju ke tanah abang. kat mangga dua pun ada, but they’re selling those stuffs at cheaper price kat tanah abang
you can find your baju raya here. masa pegi tu, dah almost pukul 2. bak kata diah, sampai je terus je naik tingkat tujuh and pusing dari situ. so that’s what we did, naik tingkat 7 and beli Swarovski diamond beads untuk lekat-lekat kat baju. i didn’t do any survey before so with their price, i think it’s cheap. 141 pcs for rm17. murah la kot kan?
they have food court too at pasar tanah abang. paling penting, the place is clean. we tried nasi uduk for the first time there, dengan soto daging. haihh i missed the food.
kalau nak cari kain for kebaya pun, this is the place. you can find kebaya indon like this, perfect for wedding or simpler kebaya designs. i bought a pair of ready made kebaya for rm50. saya tak pandai sangat bargain, i’m sure you can get better price with great bargain skills
kat sini pun berlari berkejaran jugak. secara pantas dapat membuat kesimpulan, tingkat 7 is for kasut, level 5 & 6 untuk busana muslim, lain-lain tu untuk modern clothing & accessories, basement untuk cari kain-kain lace and kain kebaya. bought some for my friends, kain kebaya sulam for rm30 each. owh, and masa tu kedai mostly nak tutup, so owner macam kasi harga murah-murah. bought tudung bawal tu for rm3.50 each. murah kan?
for kain-kain with cheaper price than tanah abang, we went to mayestic. again, tak banyak kedai yang bukak due to x-mas day. my cousin, baby suggested a shop where she bought her fabrics before so we went straight there. along the way we saw some shops recommended by fellow bloggers like mumbai textile and silk route. tapi kami beli semua kat tonnico ni je. the salesperson, mohit was really really helpful, mana kain yang takda kat kedai dia, he’ll get it from other shops for us. so, duduk dan tunggu je lah. we went to mayestic first, then baru tanah abang. i think, kalau beli kain kat tanah abang, takde kesabaran memang pening gila.
okay, tunggu memang sangat membosankan. so ambik la gambar apa yang patut.
mereka kasi air, mintak apa saja air
apa lagi eh. o ha, again, i selalu pikir yang semuanya mall. lagi best pegi tanya my cousin, kedai ni tingkat berapa eh? konon mayestic tu mall. rupanya deretan kedai, kedai-kedai kain di samping kedai alat jahitan, dan kedai ayam. ye, ayam.
mall sangat la ye ajjah?
kedai yang jual tapes, ribbons, lace borders takde pulak kat sini, zippers, buttons. alahai sangat murah, yang kat sini jual 10 biji rm5 tu, sana dapat 100 biji rm15 saje. tapi tu lah, taktau la kenapa tak beli. tengok dan belek dan belek dan keluar. headache all the way.
at night, we did nothing much there. on the first night, we went to mangga dua square. had our dinner there and walked around tengok kedai-kedai yang nak ditutup menjelang krismas. bosan je kan jalan time nak x-mas ni.
the second night, we went to jakarta pusat. jalan-jalan kat grand indonesia checking out their year end sales, and plaza indonesia was having midnight sale too. then pegi makan-makan libur di hrc jakarta kat eX
